In October 2019, I had the opportunity to travel to Mongolia to meet and photograph the iconic Kazakh eagle hunters and semi-nomadic animal herders of the Altai mountains.
A lifelong ambition, I set out to capture a collection of images that offer an artistic expression of traditional herding families’ lives and the relationship between the people, the animals they raise and the land their livelihoods depend on. As more and more families migrate from the countryside to urban areas, and with the increasing threat of climate change affecting the cultural heritage of Mongolia’s rural populations, it was a privilege to spend time with families whose strength and spirit is a source of continued inspiration.
The above images are available to purchase as Limited Edition fine art prints. To find out more about this photography project and to see more images visit my projects page .
